Does Darkest Hour support bots? ¶

Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45 does not support bots for the following reasons:

• The development team is very small and is motivated to improving the game's multiplayer gameplay exclusively.
• The base game's bots (Red Orchestra) are dumber than a bag of hammers. Immense amounts of work would need to be done to integrate them into the new systems within Darkest Hour, and to make them compelling opponents.
• The engine's bot pathing requires manual waypoint placement, an extremely labor intensive project given that the game has over 120 maps, many of which are several square kilometers. Given these factors, even completing the bot pathing alone is practically infeasible.

Will Darkest Hour ever support bots? ¶

We do not have any plans to add bot support.

But I really want to play with bots! ¶

We highly recommend playing online with others. Don't worry about your skill level, everybody starts out a newbie! Just have fun and ask your fellow players for help if you have questions. Be sure to join the Discord and ask any questions in the #newbie-help-desk channel. We hope to see you on the battlefield!
